Cessna Citation Cj4

Twin Jet

The Cessna Citation CJ4 is a light business jet that represents the largest and fastest member of Cessna's CJ (CitationJet) family. First delivered in 2010, the CJ4 was designed to bridge the gap between light jets and midsize cabin-class aircraft, offering transcontinental range with a maximum cruise speed of 451 knots and a service ceiling of 45,000 feet. Powered by two Williams FJ44-4A turbofans producing 3,621 pounds of thrust each, the CJ4 can carry up to nine passengers in a stand-up cabin while maintaining the single-pilot certification that made the CJ series popular with owner-operators and charter companies. The aircraft's Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics suite (later upgraded to Garmin G3000 in newer production runs) brought advanced automation and synthetic vision to the light jet category, setting a new standard for cockpit technology in its class. With a maximum range of approximately 2,165 nautical miles and a typical cruise altitude capability that puts it above most weather and airline traffic, the CJ4 carved out a niche as a fast, efficient point-to-point business tool for corporate flight departments and charter operators seeking jet performance without the operating costs of larger aircraft. The type remains in production as of 2024, with over 400 delivered worldwide. SkyMeter has tracked 14 flights across 8 airframes and 6 operators, with 1451804 Ontario Inc. the largest observed operator.

Safety in context

The incident rate counts flights with ANY safety event detected by SkyMeter: go-arounds (a routine response, not a failure), unstable-approach gate flags (advisory thresholds), rejected takeoffs (the system working as designed), and runway events. It is NOT an accident rate or fatality rate. For accident statistics, refer to the NTSB Aviation Accident Database (USA) or the Aviation Safety Network. See methodology for what each event type measures.
