About the Hawker Beechcraft Hawker 800

The Hawker 800 is a mid-size business jet developed by British Aerospace (later Hawker Beechcraft) as an evolution of the BAe 125 family, first entering service in 1984. Powered by twin Honeywell TFE731 turbofans, the 800 series became one of the most successful corporate jets of its era, offering transcontinental range, a stand-up cabin, and the reliability that made it a favorite among charter operators and corporate flight departments. The type's balanced performance (cruising at 450 knots with a range exceeding 2,500 nautical miles) positioned it perfectly between light jets and heavy iron, capable of linking city pairs like New York to Los Angeles nonstop with eight passengers in comfort.

The 800XP variant, introduced in 1995, brought improved engines and avionics, extending the type's production run well into the 2000s and cementing its reputation as a workhorse in the on-demand charter market. More than 650 Hawker 800-series aircraft were built before production ended in 2013, and the type remains a common sight at executive terminals worldwide. Its rugged landing gear and short-field capability allow operations into airports that larger jets cannot access, while its relatively modest operating costs keep it competitive against newer designs.

The aircraft's longevity in service speaks to its solid engineering: many airframes from the 1990s continue flying revenue missions today, testament to Hawker's build quality and the type's enduring utility in the charter and corporate sectors. SkyMeter has tracked flights across airframes and operators, with the largest observed operator.
