The Miles M.14 Magister is a British single-engine trainer and touring aircraft designed by Miles Aircraft in the late 1930s, entering RAF service in 1937 as the service's first monoplane basic trainer. Breaking with the biplane tradition that dominated military training fleets, the low-wing Magister introduced a generation of wartime pilots to modern handling characteristics (enclosed cockpit, flaps, and retractable undercarriage) that would prepare them for Hurricanes and Spitfires.
