The Dassault Mirage F1 is a French-designed single-engine supersonic fighter that entered service in 1973 as a smaller, more affordable complement to the delta-winged Mirage III. Unlike its predecessor, the F1 adopted a conventional swept wing and horizontal tail configuration, giving it superior low-speed handling and short-field performance while retaining Mach 2+ capability at altitude. Over 720 were built for France and export customers across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, serving primarily as an interceptor and ground-attack platform through the Cold War and beyond.
